Bio

My name is Shameeka, I am a native of the vibrant concrete jungle of New York City. I have a lifelong love for learning and have been a curious soul since childhood. Living in Queens, New York has deepened my interest in diverse cultures and has contributed to my love of travel. My core values are family, integrity, and growth - these values lead me to all the decisions I make currently. I attended NYC public and parochial schools. My greatest joy is being a mom to two awesome children. Brooke is 15 and a student at VIA and my son Brycen is a 7th grader. I believe in the power of education and how it transforms lives. I have homeschooled both of my children at some point in their educational journey. It's important to have my children in safe spaces and powerful equitable learning communities.

Favorite Experience

One of my most memorable experiences was doing the Time magazine interviews alongside my daughter Brooke. It's wonderful to see her blossom as she supports her school community.
